HOW TO MAKE SOFT WHITE CHAPATIS.

 Ingredients

  • 2 cups wheat flour
  • ~¾ cup warm water
  • Oil or ghee
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 tbsp of sugar

Step-by-Step

  1. Knead a soft dough
  • Add water gradually while mixing.
  • Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and soft.
  • Add 3tsp of cooking oil
  • Dough should feel soft but not sticky.

 Rest the dough

Cover and rest for 20–30 minutes.

This helps gluten relax and makes chapatis softer and easier to roll.

 Roll evenly

  • Make small balls.
  • Dust lightly with dry flour.
  • Roll evenly — not too thin, not too thick.

 Cook on a hot pan/griddle

  • Heat the pan well before cooking.
  • Put chapati on dry pan/griddle.

5.Cook sequence:

  1. First side: tiny bubbles appear flip your chapati.
  2. Apply some oil on the cooked side then flip again for it to be well done.
  3. Second side: light brown spots add oil and flip.
  4. After the second side is well cooked remove it from the pan/griddle and repeat the same process.

Avoid overcooking — that makes chapatis hard.

Best Tips for Extra Soft Chapatis

  • Use warm water for kneading.
  • Add 1 tsp oil/ghee to dough.
  • Don’t use too much dry flour while rolling.
  • Keep cooked chapatis wrapped in a cloth or insulated container.
